    Your connection is not secure

Well, I got out my blow torch and pry bar, cracked open my wallet and bought a new mini pc. Seems to be working fine. I'm now able to access all the websites again without that annoying warning. I can also access a lot of websites that connected but were just refusing to function. I learned...

    Welding helmet

I use the HTP Striker Supreme XL Carbon Fiber Auto Darkening Welding Helmet It has a very wide adjustment range, all the desirable features and a fair price. That being said, there are new helmets being introduced all the time. I'm afraid there's no substitute for just hard shopping.

    Conversation spam

Okay, here is an update. My previous thought about the ignore option did not work after all. I found the conversation access button - it's the envelope icon in the top header bar. Clicked on that and got into the conversation list. No "Leave" button there, so I clicked on the date-link on...

    Conversation spam

I clicked on the spammer's user name and flagged to "ignore" I don't see any conversations listed anymore. I can't remember how to get back in there to see. I looked for a link but maybe it only appears when a conversation still exists. (IDK)

made a tailgate hitch step for my truck

Thanks! Haven't had any problems, but maybe some foam edging is worth adding. Thought about a handle to hold onto, but couldn't come up with a good solution. Maybe something that raises up from the inside of the tailgate. Another future project. :)

    Made a timber jack

I had an old bent pry bar that wasn't getting much use. So i scrounged some materials out of my scrap bucket and found enough to make a crude timber jack with a cant hook. The metal thickness was 1/8 in so I used some 5/64 7014 with my DC inverter welder. I found that the length of the...

    Cleaning up some mushrooms

More likely, a chunk of metal would have splintered off first. I was just glad I caught it before the breakage because it can cause injury when a chunk flies off under pressure.

    Cleaning up some mushrooms

Decided it was time to clean up some mushrooms on the ends of a couple of prybars. I was going to simply grind them down but then I thought why not use my portable bandsaw and take advantage of the stand I made and just cut them off...

    Groomer skid pan

I would just go look for a used 18" auger. Trying to convert that old one is going to be "iffy" at best. By increasing the diameter of the blades, you will likely need to increase the diameter of the shaft to handle the increased torque forces.

    Small welders.

Depends on the voltage of the two units. For example: --if the MIG is using 20V @ 180A =3600 W --if the stick uses 20V @ 160A = 3200W Close, but stick has less welding power in this example. You'll need to compare the actual voltages for the specific units. Since you're using 20A@240V you...

Learning about welding - Curious about metal sources and accessory tools to make the job easier?

I bought all my stuff from HF when I started out and it was fine to learn with. As you build your interest you can acquire better as it becomes necessary. I use magnets all the time. Helps me get things square and plumb. I second the use of vise-grip clamps, very useful. I got the HF...

    Welding shop

You've probably already considered all this, but you need to be careful about calling yourself a business but not really being a business. Home/property insurance can get very complicated. Liability of "customers" coming onto the property is a concern. Advertising for work can get you into...

    Portable Bandsaw Stand

Did this a while back but thought I would share. I'd been wanting a portable bandsaw stand for a while and looked at many examples by others. I was inspired by the stands which worked both in the vertical and horizontal positions. This is my version for those features. No modifications to the...
