Fixing bucket, straightening bent cutting edge and welding on a new one.

That is what I did when I re-did the bucket for the B7500, it has worked well so far. Probably going to sell this tractor as a incomplete project, its not big enough to lift our big round bales and the wife doesn't like driving it. Aaron Z

Fixing bucket, straightening bent cutting edge and welding on a new one.

Top came back (relatively) straight after I took the pressure off. Will probably hit it with the jack to fix anything that is left when I am done. Will probably try using a chain fall next to straighten the cutting edge, the links of the chain kept catching on the edge of the bucket when I was...

Fixing bucket, straightening bent cutting edge and welding on a new one.

Spent a few minutes yesterday with a battle jack and chains, the bucket is now straighter than it was but I'll probably try a little bit more before I put the new cutting edge on. Aaron Z

    Welding a wrought iron railing

Now we see where all that TBN advertising money is going :D Not sure what you've done so far, but the welders who have been putting in refrigeration piping at work have been using cardboard between what they're welding and the wall for any splatter to land on. Makes for a whole lot less clean up...

Haven't gotten back to smoothing out the welds. Had 10 bales put away before I posted the pictures on this thread, looked and saw not an iota of movement, so I didn't re-weld it before doing the other 11 bales as I had more pressing things happening (driveway was getting paved, big project at...

No progress yet, welded a couple loops of half inch rod in bottom of the bucket and use that hold the bottom two legs of a 3 point hitch bale spear into the bucket to stack round bales. Ended up making 21 5 x 5 or 4 x 5 round bales, all stacked up in the barn out of the weather. Aaron Z

Probably set up for digging in clay soils so that they are less likely to stick in the bucket. Aaron Z

Converting a Truxcavator backhoe to trailer mount

Should be a short project to get working, my goal is to get it mounted to the trailer and get the hydraulics hooked up for now. Found a trailer that I like, will take a look at it on Monday. It was originally an orchard sprayer built on a truck frame. Going to take the pump/motor/tank off, then...

    Posts have fallen off lately

Made a HF run the other day and picked up a 3/4 ton lever chain hoist. Works really nice compared to the cable come alongs that I have used previously. Used it to winch the backhoe I bought onto the trailer. Aaron Z

Converting a Truxcavator backhoe to trailer mount

Picked up a Truxcavator backhoe the other day. It was originally meant to mount in place of a pickup tailgate with a pump that had an electric clutch. I plan on picking up a tall heavy trailer (such as a pickup frame, or currently looking at what was a medium duty truck frame), cutting it off...

Welds break because the person doing the welding did not weld it properly. Stick is used for welding when doing steel piping and other structural work, as you say it is very rarely used on a manufacturing floor. Aaron Z

That was at 130 amps DCEP with 1/8" rods which is at the top end of what Miller recommends for 6011 and around the middle of what they recommend for 7018 at: https://www.millerwelds.com/resources/weld-setting-calculators/stick-welding-calculator. Could go up to 200 amps, but that is the top end...

The bale spears will be spaced like forks so they can be used as such, one fork is bent and the other is welded in place, so they arent overly useful as-is. Aaron Z

Got the bucket brackets moved to fit the David Brown: 6011 first, hit with a chipping hammer and wirebrush, then a pass with 7018AC on top. Next up will probbaly be the forks, then straightening the bucket. Aaron Z

    Grinder Stand

I have a recycled hospital computer cart (found it on the side of the road), works great, has room for the grinder, a extension cord wrapped up and enough leftover room to add a 2nd grinder opposite the first one when I find a deal (current grinder is a ancient 3/4 HP Craftsman that is...

    Cutting steel sections

Cant disagree, bought a Diablo diamond blade and made it through about 3' of 1/4" plate (was making a new buttom for a 4' bucket) before it was burning through more than it was cutting. Works ok on tin, but not so much on thicker steel. Used a all metal worm drive saw that I got from a friend...

    WELDING BLACK IRON PIPE

That or use the wire wheel on the bench grinder to get it shiny, otherwise whatever rod you are used to should be fine. Its called iron pipe, but the pipe is actually steel, not iron (fittings may be iron though). Aaron Z

    Inexpensive MIG or arc welder.

On the stick side, we have a Everlast PowerArc 200STi and have been very happy with it. It replaced a AC only Lincoln 225 "Tombstone" (which actually went to a friend who is starting out on his own), much nicer welds with the inverter. IIRC that was around $300 new. On the MIG side, you will...

Picked up a 6' bucket for cheap a couple weeks ago, the reason it was cheap was that the cutting edge is not exactly straight: The new cutting edge: The cutting edge is a 6"x5/8"x84" one from Titan. The reason I got the bucket was that the mounting brackets bolt on so I can adjust them to...
