Still building it, but a new rear bumper for my Colorado with a backup camera using a 6" "C" channel and a piece of 1 1/2" angle to mount the camera and 3 chunks of 2 1/2" angle for the mounts, and I will admit, if I could do it over I would have used 8" channel.

I asked M to move my post about minor farm fabrication. I think what happened was I misunderstood where the 'back' button ended up - and by mistake added my post into a welding table thread. M resolved it, made it a new topic, which is better. Just growing pains, NBD.Apparently these projects are being stolen to start new threads

Imagine if every forum err I mean my garage was this well organized.
I am building a genset out of a 55 hp Perkins Diesel, and a 20 KW pto generator.
I was doing good until I had to unbolt it from the engine stand to pull the oil pan off. So now that it is off, I have to weld up a new rear engine mound, weld on some attachment points so I can bolt it to the floor, then fabricate an extension to bolt on the pto generator. Not a lot of welding or fabrication, but it has to be done.

Physical disabilities made it really tough for me to get on my little tractor. No more though. It's adjustable up and down, this is at an equal distance between ground and operator platform. When all the way up, it's no lower than the frame, so won't interfere with the mower deck.
Why are there both 'Projects' and 'Fabrication' sections? Seems like the same thing. I posted my fab project over there...

Built my own lawn roller
I made my own lawn roller this spring. Started with an ancient (1960's) steel water softener resin tank. Was about 44" tall and 12" diameter and 1/8" steel. Removed the plumbing, emptied it out, fabbed up a frame and turned it into a functional roller. Mocked up the frame using 2x2 1/4" angle...

probably the biggest project was a 4'X10' jigging table I thought I had to have and poured way to much money into, so far I have jigged nothing up on it just some layout and my DIY porta band stand lives on one corner and a piece of angle clamped to the other end for grinders. right now it is covered in enough junk that I couldn't use it if I wanted to without spending a day cleaning first. somewhere under the junk is a 3 legged portable vice stand that I still need to bolt the legs to and only God knows what else.

I built a pinbox receiver for our 5th wheel so I could attach a bike rack to the front of our RV. It works great if you have a long bed truck and enough clearance. Some bike racks work better than others. I made an adapter to put a flag in the receiver when we do not have our bikes.

Hi all! Im new here ,my projects so far ,is a rebuild of an old snowplow, then made the frame to fit my tractor, a set of forks as well.
Just something to throw out, I bought a nasty home built trailer, I sold any good parts like axles and fenders, what was left is practice steel and material for my builds

how did you go about building the forks, that's something that would come in handy from time to time but not often enough that I have broke down and bought any.

I converted a small battery compartment in our RV into storage. I moved the AGM batteries into the main storage area where they are next to the converter / charger. The storage is much larger than the battery area. Too bad it was not built this way to start so all 4 batteries could have been stored here instead of two. I used a Miller plasma cutter to remove the battery holders that slid out of the door. They were a little short and the battery terminals could hit the steel holding the upper battery after I upgraded the battery terminals. Moving the batteries was a good decision. I use the new space for items I use while setting up camp.

I added an extension cord holder for the heavy 50 amp line in our 5th wheel. I padded the arms with carpet and wiretied it on. I taped a couple holes to bolt the holder to the frame. I now use it to store 110 extension cords as well. It is a tight area and making the most of every inch. A welder has sure been a fun retirement gift to myself.
