If there’s a low spot, or large pot hole that needs to be filled, back blading works well for adding material to the low spot.
If it is being repaired on a gravel roadway, I would add material to the hole back blade it, and add to any other low spots.( possibly drive over it a few times with the tractor to help compact the material) Then run the land plane down the whole roadway, and it will be very smooth.

With the amount of rain we have had this year the weeds have gone crazy everywhere. How weeds are popping up on the road way is amazing, but they grow all over. I made a couple passes on the gravel roadway with the land plane, it cuts the weeds off below the surface, then redistributes the gravel on the roadway, with no live weeds.

I hear you on the growth factor. I mowed my yard Sunday and looking out my bathroom window this morning, it is 3-4" tall already. Some of the problem could be because I put out 400 # of 13-13-13 fertilizer the same day and it rained Monday all day.
