    Mystery MIG Gun

I like the photos on the Home Depot link. Makes it look like a real torch instead of a mig gun.

    Anvil’s

Check out water jet guys on Utube. They cut one in to & found a cavity that was filled with bondo. So - depends on how the casting went when it was poured. If they got a good pour your good. If they didn't you may have a bondo anvil.

    Trailer spare tire mount

A good way to fab a spare mount - use a plate with a piece of strap welded in the center. Slot the strap for a wedge shaped piece. Cut a circle that will slide over the strap, drop the wedge in the slot, & padlock thru a hole in the bottom of the wedge.

    auto darkening helmet issue

S Sorry - that was snarky wasn't it? I work for an auction company & we usually can't give used welding helmets away. I buy them frequently for a dollar just to keep the auction moving.

Help with trouble shooting my ESAB 275

Weldingweb.com has an ESAB forum - maybe ask over there?

    auto darkening helmet issue

Check out the ESAB Savage A40 on Cyberweld. I use one & like it for $90 bucks. Like it better than the Miller digital elite @ $400 bucks. (Don't want to scratch that one, so I use it for TIG only)

    WELDING BLACK IRON PIPE

From a web search - The chemical in the brake cleaner is Tetrachloroethylene. When this chemical is exposed with excessive heat and argon (used in MIG and TIG welding) it also produces phosgene. Phosgene is BAD stuff.

Helmet with Best Clarity of Vision, Replaceable/rechargeable battery

Best deal I have found for an inexpensive helmet is an ESAB Savage A40. Cyber weld sells them for about 90 bucks.

    Welding cable length question?

No need to make them equal. I use 100' on my stinger & 50' on my work cable. Cables are sized depending on AMPs & length. If they aren't getting hot when you are welding for any length of time they are big enough. The welder is adjusaible - turn it up of you need more current at the rod. Check...

    Welding Galvanized metal

309L - a stainless rod, but not the best for welding mild steel to mild steel. Typically we coat the new weld with a zinc rich coating. ZRC is a good product but pricey. https://www.gmesupply.com/zrc-cold-galvanizing-compound-1-quart?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwN-V7I2i6QIVEovICh3-DgrwEAQYASABEgIHm_D_BwE

What do you have for fire extinguishers. ?

John Deere dealers usually carry a water can type extinguisher, I carry one on my welding trailer. Recharge with RV antifreeze, water & air pressure. Also can use a pump up garden sprayer in a pinch. All of my welding is outdoors - no shop so i don't worry about electrical fires. (Welder is...

Miller Multimatic 215 TIG start methods

MM215 should have lift-arc function. Manual shows lift-arc remote position & in stick mode shows lift-arc non remote. Just touch the tungsten & lift to start the arc.

    High and low setting question

Different rods run better with higher voltages or lower voltages. Low tap = higher volts, high tap = lower volts for the same amperage. Travis Field (Fieldres on Utube) tries to explain it. I like to run 6010 low volts/high amps & 7018 high volts/low amps. High volts allow shorter arc length.
