Winter weather anyone?

Today started out at 6 am with 19F temps and stayed there so far but temps are supposed to start dropping tonight. So far we only had a little bit of sleet and a brief light snowing that lasted about 5 minutes. Got the weather channel on and lots of folks are doing a lot worse. I suspect roads are a bit slick since they are white with ice. I dont think we have any equipment for the highways other than a few sand trucks for the bridges.

Wow. 19F! Where are you? That's real winter weather!

55 degrees and light drizzle here. North of San Francisco.

Doing better than us here in central IL. I'm sure it's way worse up north too. This low single digit weather with way lower wind chills are rough.

In Central Texas it is now 5° with -15° wind chill. Winds 15 to 20 mph with 30 mph gusts. Going to be the same tomorrow.

Just saw on the news, 2Million people in Texas with no power and snowing on the ground.
I live 90 miles from Canada , on the side of the Rocky’s and it’s comfortable in the high 20’s not even an inch of snow on the ground.

My sister lives NW of Huston, her boss told them Friday they would be closed Monday due to the expected snow/icy roads, she said she thought she left that behind when she moved from NY.

Well guys, it is -9 here in Bismarck, Arkansas this morning with around 10" of snow on the ground and more expected tomorrow. I think we set a record for lowest low and lowest high yesterday and for sure again today. My bird feeder has been getting steady business for the last few weeks and more so since the snow.

I'm sorry to hear some of you are taking a beating.

Bright sunny days and highs 55~60 here. (NorCal).

Sorry but no amount of beautiful weather would make it worth living in California with today’s ( business and political) climate.

It's well worthwhile for me. Not everybody is the same, some are happier moving to Idaho or Texas. That's fine.

Not trying to aggravate you by saying I’m glad I’m not there. I grew up on the beach and spent 50 years there, raising my kids there also. The terrible changes that I have seen and had to endure in So Cal is truly disgusting. The filth, graffiti homeless and transients is what has ruined the area.i loved where I lived, and yes the weather was great, especially with an ocean breeze.
I do enjoy the seasonal changes here, and the clean clear air and towns. I know Nor cal and actually anywhere away from the large cities, is much nicer than the overcrowded areas.

Left Minneapolis on Monday morning. It was -21 with a -48 wind chill. Arrived in AZ +70 degrees and sunny. What a difference 2 hrs and 40 minutes makes. Glad I have the option.

The snow finally let up yesterday with a total of about 20" at my house (actual measurement). Today was the start of a warming trend (35F right now) and very lucky to have had electricity all thru it unlike most of Texas. I have 3 kids in Texas and all have been off and on with electricity all week.

Broken water main in Pine Bluff, AR. Water pressure is pitiful and will probably be totally off tomorrow for a while once they find the leak. I'm 6'3" and knee deep in snow.

So far no problems with water. Glad I have a tractor with FEL. Ben using it to clean the parking pad and clear a trail to the shop and chicken pen. It is too much to try to walk thru 20" of snow . Even my German Shepherd has trouble, he has to do it like a dolphin by leaps and bounds in order to move thru it. Even then, his legs drag thru about 4" of fluff.

Well, they say it's not broken. My sister sent me a screenshot of a Facebook post from the city or mayor saying they weren't turning the water off. They're telling people not to fill their bathtubs or containers with water (like I did earlier in the evening). They say that would cause the pressure to fall dangerously low.

After I saw the pressure was low yesterday at the first flush, my first thought was to go check the water meter. The numbers weren't rolling on the meter, so I knew it wasn't my problem to fix.

Still no problems here with water pressure. Snow is almost all melted (except in shady spots) and weather is nice at 70F right now as I am writing this. It was a bear Monday thru Wednesday though with -10F lowest I saw reported.

It looks like the pressure is back. I guess it's just the area I'm in. The water company is going to have to get it together. They have a lot of people bigger than me eyeballing the situation. The hospital is canceling surgeries. They need water for heat. The casino is closed due to water pressure. The schools can't open. I can say I am going to start drinking bottled water. One slip up with the system, and there's no telling what I could be drinking.

On the bright side, the temperature was very nice today. My nose let me know that the weather is about to change. I woke up with an itchy throat and my sinuses draining like crazy. The older I get, the more these allergies are catching up to me. Didn't have that problem when I was younger.

Same here with the sinuses.
