Coleman camp stove fuel is very similar to Stoddard Solvent, maybe the same thing, so easy to find. I wonder if Diesel (K-2) would work just as well as K-1. Come to think of it, Tiki Torch fuel is K-1 so that's easy to find too.

I'll have to mix up a small batch.

As far as I can tell K-1 was used because it doesn't smell quite as bad as diesel. I don't have a problem with the smell of diesel so it wouldn't matter much to me.
I have several 5 gallon cans of K-1 as I heated my shop with a salamander heater for several years but changed over to a natural gas heater when I moved to my current house.
I like K-1 in salamander heaters as it light's off better in extremely cold weather which is every day of the winter in Minnesota! It's 4 below zero right now.
