As far as I can tell K-1 was used because it doesn't smell quite as bad as diesel. I don't have a problem with the smell of diesel so it wouldn't matter much to me.Thanks.
Coleman camp stove fuel is very similar to Stoddard Solvent, maybe the same thing, so easy to find. I wonder if Diesel (K-2) would work just as well as K-1. Come to think of it, Tiki Torch fuel is K-1 so that's easy to find too.
I'll have to mix up a small batch.
I have several 5 gallon cans of K-1 as I heated my shop with a salamander heater for several years but changed over to a natural gas heater when I moved to my current house.
I like K-1 in salamander heaters as it light's off better in extremely cold weather which is every day of the winter in Minnesota! It's 4 below zero right now.
