Front mount Erskine snowblower

Hello, I have an older front mount Erskine snowblower. I bought used a couple yrs. ago and have used since. Last year I noticed the auger shaft was bent, causing the blades to scrape the housing. I got it back in shape, but now I am looking for the best way to reinforce the 2" square. tube, thinking of cutting end off, and sliding solid stock in??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am thinking the heavy snow is the culprit to the bending.

Can you get a peace of pipe to slide in then drill holes every foot apart and weld them up.

Fellow came with an auger he ran into a post, bent the right side auger pretty bad,
Little bend here, a push there, pull there, all heated moves. Took the blower back he was amazed,
it looked like a new one. The shaft was not thankfully bent . Mentioned to him the high speed is only for getting to your neighbor quicker.
