Oh I was thinking of the cylinders as well which would add at least $100 each. I guess one could mount the hydraulic tank in the rear and have a good setup for about $600-$700 depending on how many spare parts you've got around. Not bad for a mini loader actually.

He called it a bucket, not a loader! Only option for cylinders would be an electric hydraulic spud and I'm thinking that would be a $1000 or more. The winch idea is pretty good for this imo

Load is so low to the ground you're probably pretty safe with that ballast as long as you don't fill it with rocks and do something stupid.

Best tight for 500 would be a used unit that wasn't used much

It probably is the easiest to learn and most accessible for new welders in my opinion.
