I have an ac/dc welder and i simply just weld on ac all the time but i either use 6013 for light welding or 7018 for heavy penetrating welding
i welded a friends big speer from his hay sspeer and used 7018 rod after ii grooved it out then i welded it and he still usese the speer DON
