Looking for thin mild steel rod or stiff wire to weld up a sphere to add xmas lights.
Was thinking of making it about 36" tall and 16ribs with one inside rib aloncg the middle to hold shape.

McMaster Carr seems to have thicker rods, looking for something thinner , but not too thin to bend around a form and weld using FC wire welder.

Any ideas?

If they only have to go from a belt around the equator to a disc at the top or bottom (each rod welded both ends), then 36" rods will make a sphere nearly 4 ft across.

(12 ft circumference / 3.14).
