Hobart Handler 140
I might be beating a dead horse, but I will ask any ways. I have a Hobart Handler 140, and I would like to know if it is possible to use a 25 ft 12/3 extension cord. As of yesterday my garage door broke and I need to do a couple of projects. Your opinions and experience welcomed....thanks!

I Think it might work ok for you, as long as you are welding thin metal at a lower setting. you will find out, breaker will trip. Also try touching the 12/3 cord after welding a bit, should not be too hot.

12/3 is rated to carry 20 amps and that's likely the wire gauge inside the walls. Worst case you might lose the top 5~10% (?) of rated output power, if that is critical.

So long as the extension cord and its connectors aren't too hot, no problem.
