Are any of the cheap welders worth their money? Need temporary replacement for Airco DIP-PAK 300 MTS

Keep in mind that all new machines will be solid state IGBT machines, consequently, repairing them for failed components will be out of the realm for the average 'Joe'. Only the very cheapest machines will still be transformer machines as 99% of builder have went IGBT. IGBT machines are often...

Are any of the cheap welders worth their money? Need temporary replacement for Airco DIP-PAK 300 MTS

I much prefer the HF scenario versus the alternative. In 20 minutes I can have a NEW machine if necessary versus playing the return via shipping it somewhere and dealing with a delay. Whatever blows your dress up. In my case I know exactly what blows mine up.

Are any of the cheap welders worth their money? Need temporary replacement for Airco DIP-PAK 300 MTS

Hard to beat ANY IGBT machine today. They are very efficient with electricity usage and most of them are 100% digital readout as well. You really cannot go wrong with any of the HF welders in the mid price range, Titanium or Vulcan. Lots of them online (Amazon) as well but, if you ever have...

Are any of the cheap welders worth their money? Need temporary replacement for Airco DIP-PAK 300 MTS

I have (own) my own machine and fabricating shop and have 2 full time employees as well. A few months ago, I sold my Lincoln Square Wave TIG / SMAW capable machine and my Hyper Therm computer driven plasma unit and purchased a Harbor Freight 45 and 60 amp plasma cutter(s), the 45 amp unit...

    Wire advice

Depends on what size spool your machine will accept. I use 10 pound spools on my Hobart but some machines will only take the smaller spools. Industrial machines will accept 50 pound spools. I use INE wire myself on 030 gage.

    2 1/4" X 1/4" Square Tub Connectors

Try Motorvation Engineering in Sibley, Iowa. I just happen to own one of their sidecars and it's mounted on my Centennial Triumph Bonneville but they most likely will sell you what you require and they have the knowledge and expertise to assist you. Nice folks. In fact I drove out there from...

    Type of welder

2-4K is light. The Lincoln Square Wave TIG, weld pak I sold cost me new, 5 grand and the Hyper Therm 75 amp plasma cutter I also sold was just north of 4 grand. My issue with the Hyper Therm was the insane cost of consumables. The HF Titanium plasma cutters actually have reasonably priced...

    Type of welder

I'm 100% sold on the Vulcan Pro-Tig 205 myself. The arc with TIG is extremely smooth and it's HF start so no touching the Tungsten to the workpiece (which caused inclusions). The foot pedal is very linear as well. Only thing I don't like about it (and I did replace it) was the TIG torch...

Added a water cooler and water cooled torch...

Found out the hard way that the CK water cooled torch requires 'special' consumables as in the ones I have for my gas cooled torch won't fit so I had to order consumables that would and they aren't cheap. Oh well, should be in this week sometime. I also ordered 25 feet of stranded copper...

    Flooring for a welding shop?

I'm curious about what brand of plasma table you are looking at as that will be impacted by unlevel / not level floor. The smaller tables like the Langmuir's are adversely impacted by uneven - unlevel floors.

I have an older (1998) Century stick welder that I could use some advice on.

Nice thing about HF for me at least is their extended warranty. I just applied the extra cost 3 year warranty on both my Titanium 45 and 65 amp plasma cutters and my Vulcan 205 TIG machine. Basically, if any of them fail within the 3 year warranty, HF replaces them with a new machine or a...

    Type of welder

The Hobart plasma is a bit light on it's feet for the price I'd say. Much better options out there for much less money. Just not a HyperTherm. Good machines but the consumables are way over priced. I had one and sold it. The HF Titanium 65 is much less cost wise compared to both Hobart and...

Added a water cooler and water cooled torch...

I should probably add that the Everlast cooler didn't arrive unscathed. It was well packed in the box with foam and bubble wrap around it but the box looked like Fed-Ex used it for basketball practice. The output QD was bent down and the cabinet had a large dent in it, all fixable which I...

What to look for in a welder for Beginners

The only difference between OA welding and TIG is you must keep the filler rod in the gas envelope of the weld will become porous and if you touch the tung with the filler rod, it will foul the tung and you will need to regrind the tip. OA welding is a very good primer to TIG because both are 2...

Added a water cooler and water cooled torch...

Bought a new CK Worldwide 250 Amp flex head TIG torch from Weldfablulous and a TIG cooler from Everlast. Have a big aluminum plasma table job coming up that has to be cut and welded and the torch that came with my Pro-Tig 205 isn't capable of delivering the required amperage for big aluminum...

    Bottle size for Tig ?

Always open the cylinder gas valve all the way and close it all the way when finished, never part way either way. There is a rubber seal at the top and bottom of the valve on the bottle. I own all my bottles except my oxygen and acetylene I own but exchange them. All my other bottles I own...

I have an older (1998) Century stick welder that I could use some advice on.

Considering where utility rates are going, it might be prudent of you to look into an IGBT welder. Some inexpensive ones on the market and Harbor Freight offers some good ones (I own a couple). They are much more electricity efficient.

Not clue but I bet there are a lot. Only reason I did get on was a PM to the boss. I waited almost 2 months. Just about gave up on it as I'm Welding Web as well. One thing I don't like over there besides the fact that it's now owned by Vertical scope and VS and I don't get along well...

cats are the best mouse deterrent and we have at least 10 outside ones and 8 in the house and while I don't like cats, they came with the marriage 37 years ago and multiplied. Replacement leads for Lincoln 225

Tractor Supply sells welding leads in bulk (by the foot) and they also have stingers (rod holders) and ground clamps. The stingers and ground clamps are Hobart branded btw. I buy my welding cable there, actually, last time I bought it, I used it to add a second starting battery to my wife's...

.030 tips for Harbor Freight mig owners.

If you are burning the tips either your initial stickout is too short or your wire speed is too slow. I hardly ever have burnback. Only time I change a tip is when a put on a new nozzle and then I also change the diffuser the tip screws into. Yeswelder on Amazon has the diffusers, tips as...

Discount Flux Core Wire on Amazon

I have a handle on that. The ONLY wire I use is INE and I don't care what it costs. I've tried them all and INE is the best, least in 030 solid wire it is. I use a gob of it. usually order 4 10 pound spools at a time and I wish my Hobart 210 MIG took 40 pound spools instead.
